Plans for the enlarging and upgrading the harbor were submitted to the US Army Corps of Engineers and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in January 2019. The MDEQ permits were issued in late August. Final Engineering drawings are underway. We have the funds in hand to:
Build the pedestrian bridge across the creek to Greilickville Harbor Park
Enlarge and dredge the entire harbor basin
Install floating docks for the tall ships.
We anticipate putting this work out for bids this fall and have the new floating docks in place for 2020 summer season. Most marine contractors are busy at this time with high lake levels, so enlarging the harbor and dredging might have to wait till fall of 2020. The rest of the plan will be completed in stages as funds become available.
