Needs Assessment

IMG_0501As part of our long-range facilities planning process, the Discovery Center ~ Great Lakes completed an in-depth community needs assessment in April 2012. The assessment included:

  • input from the Discovery Center partner organizations and their members
  • focus group research targeting external audiences including:
      • community leaders
      • business owners
      • nonprofit organizations
      • residents
      • parents
      • governmental officials, and
      • educators
  • an online, community-wide survey targeting the general community.

The needs assessment indicated a strong community interest in the Discovery Center’s presence on Grand Traverse Bay, and in having the organization improve the facility andĀ develop more collaborative programming. Click here to read theĀ Community Needs Assessment Final Report – With Appendices.
