Needs Assessment

IMG_0501As part of our long-range facilities planning process, the Discovery Center ~ Great Lakes completed an in-depth community needs assessment in April 2012. The assessment included:

  • input from the Discovery Center partner organizations and their members
  • focus group research targeting external audiences including:
      • community leaders
      • business owners
      • nonprofit organizations
      • residents
      • parents
      • governmental officials, and
      • educators
  • an online, community-wide survey targeting the general community.

The needs assessment indicated a strong community interest in the Discovery Center’s presence on Grand Traverse Bay, and in having the organization improve the facility and¬†develop more collaborative programming. Click here to read the¬†Community Needs Assessment Final Report – With Appendices.
